The FAME Symposium 2026 took place on 20–21 May in Lappeenranta, Finland, bringing together stakeholders from across Europe to discuss the future of additive manufacturing and its growing strategic importance.
Johannes Gartner (Delft University of Technology and President of AM-Austria) delivered a keynote on the increasing role of politics in shaping additive manufacturing. His presentation highlighted how AM is becoming a key factor in strengthening resilient value chains, supporting sustainability objectives, addressing defence and security needs, and enabling the reshoring of manufacturing capacities within Europe.
A key objective for ATIMA at the event was to further strengthen engagement with stakeholders and communities in the Nordic region. Through its participation, ATIMA contributed to expanding its international network and fostering dialogue with key actors in the European additive manufacturing ecosystem.
The symposium provided an important platform for exchange on the evolving role of advanced manufacturing technologies in Europe’s industrial and geopolitical landscape, reinforcing the relevance of coordinated collaboration across national and regional initiatives.
