The A2LT Lightweighting Mission to Baden-Württemberg provided participants with an in-depth overview of current material and technology developments, combining expert presentations, industrial best practices, and research insights. At the Technologietag Leichtbau in Pfinztal, A2LT representatives contributed to a strong Austrian presence, highlighting advances in composite structures and steel–composite hybrids. Visits to leading institutions such as KIT, TRUMPF, DLR, Mercedes-Benz and DITF demonstrated how simulation, innovative material mixes, advanced joining technologies and smart textiles are shaping the next generation of lightweight solutions. The programme underlined that lightweighting today is understood as a holistic systems approach integrating sustainability, recyclability, digitalisation and functional performance.
