On 15–16 April 2026, Graz became the centre of Austria’s applied sciences community as it hosted the 19th Research Forum of Austrian Universities of Applied Sciences (FFH 2026). Organised by CAMPUS 02, this year’s event combined a rich programme of scientific exchange with the celebration of the institution’s 30th anniversary, creating an inspiring environment for discussion, networking, and knowledge sharing.

The importance of the forum was underlined by the participation of the Austrian Federal Minister for Women, Science and Research, Eva-Maria Holzleitner, whose presence highlighted the significant role that universities of applied sciences play in Austria’s research and innovation landscape.

ATIMA was represented at the event by Andreas Falk (BNN), who contributed to discussions on the growing importance of safe and sustainable advanced materials within applied research and innovation. By engaging with researchers, academic institutions, and innovation stakeholders, ATIMA brought attention to the opportunities and challenges associated with advanced materials and their relevance across a wide range of application areas.

The forum provided a valuable opportunity to connect with the applied sciences community and to promote the integration of sustainability and safety considerations into future research and development activities. Through its participation, ATIMA strengthened its links to key actors in the Austrian innovation ecosystem while increasing awareness of the role advanced materials can play in addressing societal and industrial challenges.

Events such as FFH 2026 are essential for fostering interdisciplinary exchange and ensuring that research, education, and innovation continue to contribute to a sustainable and competitive future. ATIMA’s involvement helped ensure that safe and sustainable advanced materials remained part of this important conversation.

More details about this event in the FFH article contributed by Gabriel Heel / CAMPUS 02, also in this QUARTERLY.
