The potential of 3D printing is enormous, but Europe must enhance cooperation and create more structured exchanges between countries and organisations. This was the central message shared by our president, Dr Johannes Gartner, during the panel discussion “Addliance – A New Chapter” at Formnext.
Dr Gartner discussed this important topic alongside David Adrover Iglesias (SCT IEC – DIGIFAB, IAM3DHUB, managed by the Leitat Technological Centre), Eetu Holstein (Finnish Additive Manufacturing Ecosystem – FAME) and Jan Tore Usken (Norwegian AM).
The session sparked a highly constructive debate, from which several key points emerged. The technology is already mature, and interest from the business community continues to grow. However, achieving new and ambitious goals will require stronger collaboration across borders.
In addition, at the Aussenwirtschaft Austria joint stand, we had the opportunity to showcase the diverse range of services offered by additive manufacturing together with eight other companies. Such collective participation is essential for international visibility and for expanding valuable networking opportunities. In many conversations at the exhibition stand, we were able to refer to our participation in the ATIMA project, as collaboration was a key topic in general.
